We are saddened to hear of the death on Sunday 5 March 2023 of Bishop Frank Griswold. Bishop Griswold was, between 1998 and 2006, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, which is the sister church of the Church of England in the USA.
He was also a longstanding and enthusiastic member of the Friends of Little Gidding, having originally joined in the early 1960s, when he was an Oxford undergraduate. In recent years he visited Little Gidding a number of times, most recently presiding at the celebration of Nicholas Ferrar Day in December 2017. He is pictured, here, after that service, with the Rector, the Revd Mandy Flaherty, and he described the day as a highlight of his ministry.
