Nicholas Ferrar Day and the AGM of the Friends 2011
Saturday 3 December 2011
Nicholas Ferrar is commemorated in the Calendar of the Church of England on 4 December, the date of his death in the year 1637.
This year, as the feast day falls on a Sunday, the commemoration is transferred to the preceding Saturday, and so this major commemoration and the AGM of the Friends of Little Gidding will be conveniently held on the same day. We are delighted to welcome Bishop David Stancliffe to preside at the eucharist and to give the address afterwards. Bishop David was until his retirement last year the Bishop of Salisbury. He was for many years the Chair of the Church’s Liturgical Commission, and was one of the prime movers responsible for Common Worship.
The timetable for the day is:
10.30: | Holy Communion |
11.30: | Talk by Bishop David (in Ferrar House) |
1.00: | lunch |
2.00: | AGM of the Friends |
You are very welcome to attend some or all of the day. As we need to have an idea of numbers for lunch, it would be helpful if you could let us know if you plan to be present. See the contact page or email chair@littlegidding.org.uk.
